The Malaysian Information Technology (IT) Professional Examination was first mooted in 2001, as a benchmark examination for IT Professionals to Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad by the Minister of Education at the time, YB Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Musa Mohamad.
The Examination measures the competency level of IT professionals in Malaysia. Since 2002, METEOR was given the responsibility to implement the ITEE.
MITPE is being administered by Malaysian Examination Council. The first examination has successfully conducted on 8th October 2005.
In Japan, the examination is called the Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) and was established as a national examination administered by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Japan, since 1969. This examination has expanded into one of the largest scale national examination with 800,000 applicants annually.
